Isotonic contraction
Isotonic contraction is a form of muscle contraction in which the muscle develops tension and changes its length, producing movement at a joint. It is divided into concentric contraction, where the muscle shortens while generating force, and eccentric contraction, where the muscle lengthens while remaining active. It is a fundamental mechanism involved in most daily movements and strengthening exercises.
