Xiphothoracic ligament

The xipho-thoracic ligament connects the xiphoid process with the surrounding thoracic structures. It contributes to the stability of the region. It is a fibrous structure. It plays a role in the mechanics of the thoracic wall. Pathology affecting it is rare.
