Spinal Canal

The spinal canal is the bony passage through which the spinal cord runs. It protects the central nervous system within the spinal column. Its diameter is critical for preventing compression of neural structures. Narrowing of the canal may cause serious neurological symptoms. It is a fundamental anatomical structure.
