Delayed union
Delayed union refers to the prolonged healing of a fracture beyond the expected timeframe for bone repair. Although the bone continues to show signs of healing, the process progresses more slowly than normal. Factors such as smoking, impaired blood supply, infection, or inadequate fracture stabilization may contribute to its development. Treatment may include improving fracture stability, physical rehabilitation, and, in some cases, surgical intervention.
