Injury Rehabilitation

Injury rehabilitation is an organized therapeutic process aimed at restoring the normal function, mobility, strength, and stability of an injured tissue or joint following trauma such as a fracture, sprain, muscle strain, tendon tear, or ligament injury. Rehabilitation usually begins during the acute phase with measures focused on controlling pain and inflammation. It then progresses to a mobilization phase, involving gentle and controlled exercises designed to restore range of motion, and is completed with a phase of progressive strengthening, endurance improvement, and proprioceptive retraining.

The rehabilitation program is individually designed according to the type and severity of the injury, the patient's age, physical activity level, and any previous surgical intervention. Its purpose is not only to achieve complete functional recovery but also to prevent recurrence and secondary complications by improving biomechanics, muscular balance, coordination, and stability around the affected area.

Successful rehabilitation often requires close cooperation between the orthopedic surgeon, physiatrist, and physical therapist, as well as the active participation and commitment of the patient throughout the recovery process. A structured and progressive rehabilitation plan allows a safer return to daily activities, sports, or professional demands while minimizing the risk of future injury.
