Tendon calcifications

Tendon calcifications are the deposition of calcium salts within the tissue of the tendons. They usually occur as a result of chronic inflammation or degenerative changes. They may cause pain, restricted movement, and reduced functionality. They are often found in the shoulder, particularly in the supraspinatus tendon. Treatment includes conservative therapy or, in selected cases, interventional techniques.
