Talus

The talus is one of the key bones of the ankle joint and connects the tibia and fibula with the rest of the foot. It plays a crucial role in transferring body weight during walking and standing. Its surface is covered with articular cartilage, allowing smooth movement. It has a limited blood supply, which makes it vulnerable to complications such as osteonecrosis after a fracture. Injuries to the talus require careful management.
