Smith Fracture

A Smith fracture is a fracture of the distal radius with palmar displacement of the distal fragment. It is usually caused by a fall onto a flexed wrist. It is characterized by pain, swelling, and deformity of the area. It is considered the “reverse” of a Colles fracture. Treatment includes reduction and immobilization or surgical repair.
