Tendon rupture

A tendon rupture involves the disruption of the continuity of a tendon that connects a muscle to a bone. It is often caused by sudden overload or chronic degenerative changes. It causes severe pain and significant loss of mobility in the affected limb. In complete ruptures, there is complete functional loss of the corresponding muscle. Treatment is often surgical, especially in cases of complete ruptures.
