Schmorl’s node

A Schmorl’s node is a condition in which the nucleus of an intervertebral disc protrudes into the vertebral body, rather than sideways as in a typical disc herniation. It is often referred to as an intravertebral hernia and usually occurs in the thoracic or lumbar regions of the spine.
