Thyroid cartilage

The thyroid cartilage is the largest cartilage of the larynx and forms the well-known “Adam’s apple.” It protects the vocal cords and contributes to phonation. It is a key anatomical component of the upper airway. Changes or injuries to it can affect voice and breathing. It is important for the structure and function of the larynx.
