Post-traumatic edema
Post-traumatic edema is the accumulation of fluid within the tissues following an injury. It causes swelling, pain, and restricted mobility. It represents a normal inflammatory response of the body to trauma. In most cases, the swelling gradually subsides with rest and appropriate treatment. Management typically includes elevation, ice application, and compression.
