Positive Lachman test

A positive Lachman test indicates rupture or laxity of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). During the test, increased anterior translation of the tibia relative to the femur is observed. It is one of the most reliable examinations for assessing the ACL. It is widely used in acute knee injuries. A positive result is associated with joint instability.
