Pivot shift phenomenon

The pivot shift phenomenon is a clinical sign used to assess knee instability following an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear. During the examination, a characteristic subluxation and reduction of the tibia is observed with a specific movement. It is considered an important indicator of functional knee instability. It is mainly used in orthopedic examination and preoperative assessment.
