Plantar fascia
The plantar fascia is a strong band of connective tissue under the sole of the foot that connects the heel to the toes and supports the arch of the foot. Inflammation or microtears can cause heel pain and difficulty walking. Its main roles are shock absorption and stability during walking and running. Treatment includes stretching, physiotherapy, and orthotic insoles.
