Osteonecrosis (avascular necrosis)

Osteonecrosis is the death of bone tissue due to interruption of blood supply. It often affects the femoral head. It causes pain and collapse of the bone structure. It may be associated with trauma, corticosteroid use, or alcohol consumption. Treatment depends on the stage of the disease.
