Neurotomy

Neurotomy is a surgical procedure involving the intentional cutting or severing of a nerve. It is used infrequently and primarily for the management of certain chronic pain conditions. The procedure results in partial or complete loss of the nerve’s function. Neurotomy is generally considered an irreversible intervention. Therefore, it is reserved for carefully selected cases when other treatment options have proven ineffective.
