Multiple fractures refer to a condition in which more than one bone is broken at the same time, either in the same area of the body or in different regions. They usually occur when a high force is applied to the body, resulting in disruption of the normal continuity of the bones. When multiple fractures are present, the affected area loses its usual stability and the normal bony structure is altered. Bones may become displaced from their normal position, or a single fracture site may result in several bone fragments.
This condition affects the normal function of the region, as the integrity and structure of the bones are disrupted in more than one location.
