Meniscal injuries

Meniscal injuries refer to damage to the fibrocartilaginous structures of the knee that contribute to stability and shock absorption. They are usually caused by twisting movements or sudden changes in direction. They are accompanied by pain, swelling, and restricted movement. In some cases, a sensation of joint “locking” may also occur. Treatment can be conservative or surgical, depending on the extent of the injury.
