Meniscus

The meniscus is a fibrocartilaginous structure located within the knee joint. There are two menisci (medial and lateral) that act as shock-absorbing “cushions.” They contribute to the stability and smooth movement of the joint. Meniscus tears are common, especially in athletes or following injury.
