Medial collateral ligament (MCL)

The medial collateral ligament (MCL) is a strong fibrous structure located on the inner side of the knee. It stabilizes the joint and resists valgus forces. It connects the femur to the tibia and works in coordination with other stabilizing structures. Injuries are common in sports due to lateral stress. Treatment is usually conservative, except in severe tears.
