Intramedullary nailing
Intramedullary nailing is a surgical technique for stabilizing fractures by inserting a metal rod into the medullary cavity of the bone. It is mainly used for fractures of long bones such as the femur and tibia. The nail aligns and stabilizes the bone fragments, allowing healing to occur. The method provides good mechanical support and allows earlier mobilization of the patient. It is a widely used technique in modern orthopaedic surgery.
