Lithification (tissue calcification)

Lithification is a process of pathological calcium deposition in soft tissues. It may occur after injury, inflammation or degenerative conditions. It leads to hardening and reduced elasticity of the tissues. It often affects muscles or tendons. Treatment depends on severity and symptoms.
