Avascular necrosis (bone) / Osteonecrosis

Avascular necrosis of bone is bone death without infection, caused by interruption of the blood supply. It leads to collapse of the bone structure. It often affects the femoral head. It is a progressive and painful condition. Treatment may be conservative or surgical.
