Bone fracture (disruption of bone continuity)

A bone fracture is a traumatic injury in which the continuity of the bone is disrupted. It may be complete or partial, with or without displacement of the bone fragments. It is usually caused by strong force, falls, or direct trauma. It is accompanied by severe pain, swelling, and functional impairment of the affected area. Treatment depends on severity and may be conservative or surgical.
