Gonarthrosis

Gonarthrosis (knee osteoarthritis) is a degenerative disorder of the knee joint in which the articular cartilage covering the bone surfaces gradually wears away. This degeneration may cause pain, stiffness, swelling, and reduced knee mobility. It occurs more frequently in older adults but may also be associated with injuries, increased body weight, or mechanical stress on the joint. Diagnosis is made through clinical examination and imaging evaluation, mainly X-rays. Treatment includes exercise, physiotherapy, control of joint loading, medication, and, in advanced cases, surgical reconstruction.
