Sciatica

Sciatica is pain that follows the course of the sciatic nerve, which extends from the lumbar region of the spine to the lower limb. It is usually caused by irritation or compression of the nerve roots, such as in cases of intervertebral disc herniation, spinal degenerative changes, or muscle-related pressure in the buttock region. Symptoms may include lower back or buttock pain, numbness, tingling, and weakness in the leg. Diagnosis is made through clinical examination and, when necessary, imaging evaluation. Treatment may include physiotherapy, mobility and strengthening exercises, medication, and in some cases surgical intervention.
