Ischial Tuberosity
The ischial tuberosity is the bony prominence located at the lower part of the ischium of the pelvis, on which the body rests while sitting. It serves as an attachment site for important muscles and tendons, such as the hamstring muscles, and contributes to the stability and movement of the hip joint. Injuries, prolonged pressure, or inflammation in this area may cause pain and difficulty with sitting or movement. Assessment is performed through clinical examination and, when necessary, imaging studies. Treatment depends on the underlying cause and may include rest, physiotherapy, stretching and strengthening exercises, or other specialized treatments.
