Hamstring muscles
Group of muscles located at the back of the thigh that connect the hip to the tibia. They include the biceps femoris, semitendinosus, and semimembranosus muscles. They mainly contribute to hip extension and knee flexion, while also helping to stabilize the pelvis and the lower limb. They are important for activities such as running, jumping, and walking. Their injuries are common, especially among athletes, and may cause pain and limited mobility.
