Haglund’s deformity

Haglund’s deformity is a bony prominence at the upper posterior part of the heel, near the insertion of the Achilles tendon. Friction in this area caused by footwear may lead to pain, irritation, and inflammation of the bursa. It is often accompanied by stiffness and discomfort during walking or physical activity. Treatment includes changes in footwear, physiotherapy, and, in persistent cases, surgical treatment.
