Genu valgum (knock-knee)

Knock knee (genu valgum) is a deformity of the lower extremity in which the knees angle inward, while the ankles remain farther apart from each other when the person is standing upright. It may occur during growth, after injuries, or due to abnormalities in the alignment of bones and joints. In some cases, it can cause pain, increased stress on the knee joint, and difficulties with walking. Assessment is performed through clinical examination and, when necessary, imaging studies. Treatment depends on the severity of the condition and may include strengthening exercises, physiotherapy, or other orthopaedic interventions.
