Slipped capital femoral epiphysis (SCFE)

Slipped capital femoral epiphysis is a pathological condition in which the epiphyseal plate of the femur slips relative to the femoral neck. It occurs mainly in adolescents during the growth period. It causes pain in the hip or knee and limited range of motion. It is an orthopedic emergency that requires early diagnosis and treatment. Management is usually surgical to prevent permanent complications.
