Osteochondritis dissecans

Osteochondritis dissecans is a condition in which a fragment of bone and cartilage detaches from the articular surface. It causes pain, swelling, and mechanical symptoms. It occurs mainly in the knee and ankle. It may lead to loose bodies within the joint. Treatment can be conservative or surgical.
