Discitis (inflammation of the intervertebral disc)

An inflammation of the intervertebral disc, usually due to infection or a post-traumatic cause. It causes pain in the spine, limited mobility, and sometimes fever. Diagnosis is made with imaging studies and laboratory tests. Treatment includes antibiotics, rest, and physiotherapy, while in severe cases surgical intervention is required.
