Discectomy

Discectomy is a surgical removal of part of an intervertebral disc that is compressing spinal nerves, most commonly due to a disc herniation. Its goal is to relieve pain, numbness, or weakness in the limbs and restore function. In selected cases, the procedure may be combined with spinal stabilization (fusion).
