Cobb angle (scoliosis measurement)

The Cobb angle is the standard radiographic method used to measure the degree of spinal deformity in cases of scoliosis. It is calculated from the angle formed by the lines drawn along the upper and lower endplates of the vertebrae with the greatest inclination within the scoliosis curve. The measurement is performed on a standing full-spine radiograph. It is used to assess the severity of scoliosis, monitor its progression, and plan the appropriate treatment. An increase in the Cobb angle over time may indicate worsening of the deformity and the need for reassessment.
