Chondral Defect

A chondral defect is damage or loss of the articular cartilage that covers the surfaces of a joint. It can be caused by trauma, overload, or degenerative changes. It leads to pain, swelling, and reduced joint mobility. Treatment depends on the size and location of the lesion.
