Disc protrusion (disc bulge)

Disc protrusion (disc bulge) is the displacement of the intervertebral disc beyond its normal boundaries without a complete tear of the annulus fibrosus. It may be asymptomatic or cause pressure on neural structures. It is often considered an intermediate stage before a disc herniation.
