Disc protrusion (bulging disc)

Disc protrusion is a progressive outward displacement of an intervertebral disc without rupture of the annulus fibrosus. It may compress nearby nerves and cause pain, most commonly in the lower back or neck. Treatment includes physiotherapy, medication, and in severe cases, surgical intervention.
