Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rupture

An anterior cruciate ligament rupture is one of the most common sports injuries of the knee. It usually occurs after a sudden twisting injury or a change of direction. It causes severe pain, swelling, and significant joint instability. It is often accompanied by difficulty walking or a feeling of the knee “giving way.” Treatment is often surgical in active patients.
