Periprothetische Infektion

Eine periprothetische Infektion ist eine Infektion, die sich um ein orthopädisches Implantat entwickelt. Sie ist eine schwere Komplikation nach Gelenkersatzoperationen. Sie verursacht Schmerzen, Schwellung und Funktionsstörungen. Häufig ist eine antibiotische und manchmal auch chirurgische Behandlung erforderlich. Sie kann die Stabilität der Prothese gefährden.
