Thoracolumbar fascia

The thoracolumbar fascia is a strong fibrous structure that covers the muscles of the lumbar and thoracic regions of the spine. It contributes to trunk stabilization and the transfer of forces between the upper and lower body. It serves as an attachment site for important muscles such as the latissimus dorsi and the paraspinal muscles. It plays a crucial role in maintaining posture and functional movement. Dysfunction of the fascia may be associated with low back pain or myofascial pain.
